We know that some dental treatments can be daunting to nervous patients. Perhaps you're nervous about the sounds and sensations, or you've had a bad experience in the past and are worried about this happening again. At the Implant and Cosmetic Smiles clinic we take pride in providing the best possible experience to our patients. Dental sedation can help you to feel more at-ease during your treatment. You will still be awake and conscious, but you will feel relaxed and calm and wont remember much about the procedure after.
Conscious sedation is not only used for very nervous patients. It's also a popular choice for any patient undergoing longer procedures. such as full mouth Implant procedures. This is because of something known as the "twilight sleep". When you are under sedation, you feel calm and relaxed, and time seems to pass by more quickly. This means that longer procedures will feel much shorter, and patients rarely remember the procedure afterwards.
How can conscious sedation help?
You don’t have to be a nervous patient to enjoy the benefits of conscious sedation. It’s also highly effective for making longer procedures seem to pass by quickly and help you to relax during oral surgery. Here are just some of the ways it can help.

You will feel drowsy , sleepy and very relaxed throughout the procedure and wont remember much about the dental procedure.
The simple answer is you should not feel any pain during the procedure. You will still be numbed or given local anaesthetic also , but this is still carried out very gently so you wont even remember it being done.
No, it's not the same as a general anaesthetic, and you will still be conscious throughout your procedure. Some people find that they can nod off to sleep while they are undergoing treatment, but this is because they are so relaxed during the treatment. Many patients think they were asleep afterwards as they don't recall the procedure being carried out and are surprised at how easy it was.
The sedation will last as long as the procedure needed to be carried out. The recovery time once the procedure is complete is very quick and you will go home shortly after but you must be accompanied by an adult as you will still feel a little drowsy for several hours after. Patients often describe it as a nice feeling like they have had a few glasses of wine to drink after.
Don’t just take our word for it.
